Golf

The nearest golf course is at Marcevol (25 minutes). This 9-hole course is currently closed while the new owners, Eassda Holdings, seek planning permission for an 18-hole golf resort. The dramatic 747 acre site, with rugged granite terrain surrounded by evergreen oak woods and spectacular mountain and sea views, will be Weller McEvoy’s first course in France. Facilities are to include a hotel, leisure facilities and a clubhouse..

The 9-hole, par 34 course, designed by Jean Garaialde at Font-Romeu (50 minutes) is set high in the hills on naturally undulating terrain, and offers a varied game against a backdrop of spectacular mountain scenery. The course is closed from December to May. Advanced booking is advisable (Phone +33 468 301 078). This is great walking country with thermal springs and opportunities for water sports and skiing.

The Saint-Cyprien golf club (1 hour 10 minutes) is open all year and has a great setting. It’s next to the stunning beaches of the Mediterranean, a short distance from the Spanish border, and within sight of the Pyrénées. It has great facilities, including two pools, four tennis courts, a lake, a 3 star hotel and a top class restaurant. There’s a choice of 2 courses: the Canigou (18-hole, par 73) and the Saint-Cyprien (9-hole, par 35). The water obstacles present a challenge, but players of all levels will enjoy getting around them. Advanced booking is advisable (Phone +33 468 376 363).
